About the Site
Anecdote Baseball started as a wix project. I was working on "The Lineup" and artsy pages for each hitter. This was the summer of 2019.
That winter, I started learning HTML and CSS so I could maybe just host the website and not be limited by using some other service. In slow motion, Anecdote Baseball has been built ever since. Many of the site's ~10 or so articles at launch were written earlier in the learning code process, but here's to posting more more regularly now that the site exists! It wouldn't without the support of many great people. My dad who taught me about all things and my good friend Chet who can code up a mean stew.
Baseball, be it playing it, watching it or simming it are inspirations for the site. But a integral part of a our pioneering past-time is talking about it. We hope to incorporate more to make the site a more rewarding experience for you, but thank you so much for giving the site a chance. I enjoy the quote-machine found at the bottom of most pages along with the LineupTheGame...game. A Lineup of 500+ WAR is a great standard and putting together a squad is our closest thing to a Spaceship Baseball AKA sim contribution. We hope you enjoy.
A founding ethos for the site is expressing truth, awe or whatever through data. Through all the insight gleamed from such analysis, baseball is still just anecdotes, the surviving part in the entropic war between the unwritten and what happens in da boxscore.
